Bringing together artists from across the VIEWS (Vision of Inspiring and Empowering Walls in Scarborough) programs, VIEWS: 2026 celebrates the creativity, growth, and artistic journeys of young people from across Scarborough.
Through VIEWS: Aaniin, Music in Community (MiC), and KGO Made, emerging youth artists explored creativity, identity, place, and community through collaborative art-making and mural projects. Through hands-on workshops in storytelling, design, technical skill-building, and artistic development, participants transformed local stories and shared perspectives into large-scale public murals. Guided by experienced artists and mentors, youth developed creative, leadership, and professional skills while contributing to lasting artworks that reflect the communities they call home.
At the heart of this exhibition are self-portraits created by the participating artists. Through their work, they explore how they see themselves, express their identities, and share the stories that shape who they are. Each portrait offers a personal perspective, while collectively celebrating the diverse voices, experiences, and creativity of young people across Scarborough.
Rooted in Next Generation Arts’ commitment to nurturing youth through creative practice, VIEWS: 2026 celebrates art as a space for self-expression, connection, and discovery. It recognizes not only what these young artists have created, but also the growth, imagination, and possibilities that have emerged along the way.
