VIEWS: AANIIN is a free public art and mural program presented by Next Generation Arts, designed to support and uplift youth ages 16-29 in Markham and York Region.
The 2026 edition will be hosted at the Aaniin Community Centre & Library in the heart of Southeast Markham. Through weekly workshops led by community artists and peer mentors, participants will explore painting, design, cultural storytelling, and collaborative mural-making, culminating in a large-scale public mural that reflects the identities, lived experiences, and voices of local youth.
What You'll Do
Through the program, you will learn professional mural techniques and artistic practices, engage in community consultations and design conversations, paint a large-scale public mural with your peers, create individual canvas works for a final group exhibition, and build confidence, a portfolio, and leadership through art.
Who This Is For
If you’re a youth between the ages of 16-29 and are passionate about visual storytelling, public art, and building something meaningful for your community, this program is for you. No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to show up, collaborate, and express yourself.
Consistent attendance is required across all workshops.
