Woven Together brings together works by youth from Next Generation Arts’ flagship programs—HEAL (Health Empowerment and Arts Leverage) and VIEWS (Vision of Inspiring and Empowering Walls in Scarborough)—exploring the ways different art forms reveal shared stories and identities. Regardless of age, experience, or medium, we are connected through the ways we create and engage with art. Here, we give space to the unique approaches and celebrate the work that continues to grow through our programs.
Through HEAL’s Inter-Arts workshops, youth explored a range of art forms such as poetry, collage, drawing, and flower-pressing. Over the course of 8 weeks, youth discovered new art-making techniques, new ways to express themselves, and healing and mental wellness through creativity. VIEWS: MY (McGregor Youth) Rising extends this spirit into mural-making, where participants spent 12 weeks learning painting techniques and professional skills, creating portraits that reflect the people of the community and translating their stories into vibrant, lasting art.
Together, these programs intertwine to reflect Next Generation Arts’ belief in supporting youth through art, creating a woven exhibition that celebrates growth, creativity, and expression.
